Latest News: State of the Project mid-August 2010
Construction of the medicinal bath and the new patient rooms could be started as scheduled in June.  The project is in good progress.
Although bad weather has partly delayed the construction work, Darchen has fortunately been spared so far from the great environmental disasters like in Ladakh.

Background
Medicinal bathing and massage are important components of  Tibetan medicine, in the treatment of many illnesses and preventive, to strengthen the immune system, to harmonize imbalances of bile and wind. In the medical tantras there are explanations how the internal wind, responsible for the aging process, can be reduced and overcome by regular bathing, followed by massage with special remedial oils.

In the Kailash region many people are suffering from rheumatism and arthritis. Main reasons are the difficult environmental conditions, the extremely cold winters with strong winds. Yak-, sheep- and goat shepherds often spend the whole day outdoors with their flocks.
